Pedras Negras de Pungo Andongo
Monolithic black rock formations rising from the savanna.
The Pedras Negras de Pungo Andongo are extensive monolithic rock formations, millions of years old, that rise abruptly above the surrounding savanna. The best-known western subsystem lies in the municipality of Cacuso in Malanje Province, and forms an extension of the Cacuso Plateau. Pungo-Andongo was the capital of the Kingdom of Ndongo in its final years.
